Having an online service in place gives employees fast access to a GP, so they can quickly receive medical advice when they need it and get back on the road to health in no time. Speedy access to primary care – in turn – helps reduce out-of-office time.

The Health Hero GP24 and second medical opinion service is available 24/7 for employees, offering unlimited access to practising NHS GPs, private prescriptions, open referrals and fit notes.

Getting started

How a remote GP consultation can help

Mrs RD / 30 years old

Mrs RD contacted the Health Hero GP24 service after noticing her heart had been pounding for a week. Just 23 minutes later, she was consulting with a GP and explaining that she'd recently been diagnosed with bronchiectasis and had been struggling with a build-up of sputum in her throat. To combat this, Mrs RD had been using herbal tea, turmeric and digoxin substitute to help clear her throat. She had no chest pain or sweatiness, but the GP explained that digoxin can affect the heart and given it was being taken in tea, could potentially be at toxic levels. For this reason, the GP recommended the patient head to A&E for a check up and an ECG.

Mr AH / 51 years old

After being prescribed a second medication for an existing condition, Mr AH left his GP's office unsure of how best to take his multiple medications.

Thankfully, he contacted the Health Hero GP24 services and was discussing his medication less than an hour later. The GP took the time to clearly explain how to take both mediactions so that they worked safely and efficiently together. Mr AH was happy with this explanation and pleased that he hadn't needed to trouble his NHS GP.
